WELCOME TO RADIUS MUSIC SCHOOL!
My name is Rachel. I am a piano and violin teacher for students of all ages, ranging from 6 years old to adult. I teach both popular and classical styles and my lessons are tailored for each student's needs and goals. I incorporate many different teaching methods in our lessons to ensure that students are engaged and enjoy learning the instrument, all while gaining strong musicianship skills, a fundamental understanding of music theory, and a well-rounded music education.
I offer virtual and in-person private lessons, as well as group classes, music camps, workshops, concerts and recitals, field trips, and other school events around the country. Students are invited and encouraged to attend these various school events to connect, collaborate, and perform with other students and musicians everywhere!
I strive to create a personal connection with all of my students and offer the best quality lessons possible. My goal is to not only teach my students how to read music and play an instrument, but to also instill in them a deep appreciation for music and help build a confidence in them that they can carry throughout their lives.
MY STORY
I have loved music from a very young age and began taking piano and violin lessons at the age of 5. I have performed with many orchestras, bands, and ensembles throughout my life and have won various competitions, awards, and scholarships for the piano and violin. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in Music. One of my main areas of study (and one of the reasons why I consider music to be essential) is the many nonmusical cognitive, intellectual, and physiological benefits associated with learning a musical instrument for both children and adults. I believe music is one of the most powerful influences in the world and has the ability to alter a person's physical and mental well-being, which is why I love teaching and sharing the joy of music.
When I'm not teaching, listening to, or making music, I enjoy spending time with my dog Wolfgang (named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart). Wolfgang loves food, traveling, and meeting the students!
